Senior Scientist

Major Responsibilities:

  • The role is in the Translational Biomarkers group of the Discovery Medicine Unit and will involve the development and implementation of biomarker strategies that support the early clinical development of assets for use in neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.

Requirement:

  • A PhD degree in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Immunology or a related biochemical discipline with up to 3 years post-doctoral research experience in academic/ industry/ CRO organisations
  • Experience in performing histological and immunohistological analyses of human brain tissues to assist with target validation, pathology assessment and target based investigations.
  • Experience in developing and performing immunoassays such as ELISAs and Western blots to measure pharmacodynamic and biomarker endpoints.
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English
  • Familiarity with protein purification/ cell biology techniques will be beneficial.
  • Experience in an industrial setting or working to GLP standards will be beneficial.
  • The successful applicant will utilise a wide range of human tissues and after training will be expected to become compliant with GSK-RDC policies in this area.
