Associate Director or Project Manager

Major Responsibilities:

  • Project management of R&D drug development projects, working with cross-functional global matrix teams accountable to Neurology R&D and/or China Medicines Development Centre;
  • Creation, control, interrogation, management, and communication of all aspects of the integrated project plan (schedule, budget, resource, options, assumptions and risks) Operational alignment of integrated project plan with project strategy using GSK Project Management Systems (MSP, Planisware, Hyperion, PMI DE, critical path methodology, and risk management);
  • Leading overall operational execution of project according to agreed plan, i.e., tracking and management of project progress, integration of line activities, and identification and focus on critical path activities;
  • Creation and maintenance of the project budget and development of options and scenarios related to budget constraints through close collaboration with functional lines and Finance;
  • Development of optimized project schedules, Risk Management plans, and project budgets for approval;
  • Accurately defining and defending to senior management the operational tradeoffs between risk, schedule, budget, and Probability of Success;
  • Coordinating project status, issue, and outcome updates to ensure timely and informed decision making at the portfolio level;
  • Project Team secretariat, including optimizing meetings agendas, compiling meeting minutes, maintaining decision logs, archiving project governance documentation, and ensuring all relevant PT information is accessible in team database and PMI-DE;
  • Participate in evaluation of in-license opportunities and accountable for development of integrated plan;
  • Contribute to design, development, improvement or redesign of R&D China processes.

 

 

Requirement:

  • BS/BA in Science;
  • Sufficient drug development knowledge to be a credible key member of a project team;
  • Ability to provide operational leadership and project management of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated matrix management skills and clear ability work effectively in cross functional team environment;
  • Demonstrated aptitude for managing multiple projects and priorities;
  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills;
  • Ability to apply leadership skills to achieve expedited project development, including skills in delegation, supervision and planning, fostering teamwork, and thinking strategically;
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communications and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including senior management;
  • Ability to utilize experience and influencing skills to facilitate successful project implementation, stakeholder management and effective issue resolution;
  • Experience of project planning software preferred, particularly MS Project (or Planisware), Excel and MS PowerPoint;
  • Demonstrated presentation skills
  • Post Graduate Degree (MSc, MBA, PhD) preferred;
  • PMP or AMP certification or equivalent;
  • 3+ years experience in Pharmaceutical Project Management
  • Applicants have been working at current position for more than 12 months.
