China Procurement Manager

PURPOSE OF POSITION :

• Develop and implement the procurement strategy for all purchased materials, to achieve maximum contribution to operating profit and business growth for AB Mauri China sites.
• Improve vendor management and supply chain efficiency to ensure a reliable supply chain locally and internationally.
• It covers and responsible for all raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials and distribution agreements for ABM Mauri China sites key capital items, and other services, goods as required by ABM’s business and possibly other ABF businesses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Manage purchasing activities and work with sites to develop purchasing strategies to reduce the cost of goods and supplies required by ABM within China.
•  Maintain, evaluate and expand reliable sources of supply and establish supply contracts for sites within China, for goods and services not covered by global purchase agreements
•  Liaise with Central Purchasing & other Regions in establishing Global Agreements and leveraging ABM’s spend worldwide
•  Be the prime contact for purchasing activities within a region and develop professional purchasing expertise and provide advice, coaching and training where necessary within the region.
•  Manage the implementation of new supply agreements or purchasing systems and procedures.
•  Promote and implement best practice purchasing across all ABM sites in the Region and demonstrate continuous improvement in supply management. In particular continuous reduction in costs and improvements in the quality of goods, services and suppliers required by ABM.
•  Work with suppliers and sites to minimise supply chain costs, in particular inventory levels, waste and handling costs.
•  Through Site management, ensure suppliers deliver on time, meet required quality levels or performance standards and take remedial action where necessary. Also implement adequate controls to monitor and manage the performance of purchasing activities in the Region and minimise the risk to ABM from supply failures or unbudgeted price increases.
•  Liaise with other members of the ABF Group, to maximise leverage from purchasing as part of a larger organisation in due course.
•  Liaise with Central Purchasing & other Regions in establishing Global Agreements and leveraging ABM’s spend worldwide in due course.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

-Education, qualifications and training

•  Bachelor degree and above

-Experience

• 5+ years of experience in procurement management
• experience in sugar/oil/commodities, it would be an advantage

-Specialised knowledge or skills required (functional skills)

•  Procurement management
• Knowledge of procurement policies and processes, and supplier quality standards
•  Holistic business sense, demonstrated teamwork, commercially astute
• MRP or ERP knowledge and hands on experience well regarded
• High numeracy and IT skills
•  Very good spoken & written English
