Planning Manager

MAJOR DUTIES:

•  Provides work direction, supervision, leadership and counsel to less experienced employees involved in specifications documentation and/or drafting, modeling or engineering change management.
•  Provides leadership in developing and maintaining division Part Data Management System and Program Master Schedules.  Coordinates appropriate personnel in affected departments in prototype/pilot builds.
• Develops, documents, maintains and enforces internal engineering standards.  Identifies opportunities for business process improvements.
•  Coordinates the resolution of specification/design change issues as they arise to avoid delays in production and ensure they are in alignment with our processes and Part Data Management vision.
•  Performs administrative duties related to performance management, salary pay plan, succession planning, resource planning, training, and development of direct reports.
• Facilitates/participates in Product Council, Product Management Team or other meetings to ensure quality and usefulness of product data on an enterprise-wide basis.
•  Maintains Part Tracking to insure implementation of new parts is visible and process is monitored.
•  Maintains capital tracking process to insure Authority for Expenditure (AFE) and other expense budget commitment are met.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Technical Skills & Knowledge:

        Specialized skills, knowledge and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of the job.

• Ability to use various department specific computer programs.  (Has an expert understanding of the principles, can apply the information to complex situations, solve complex problems, conduct research/break new ground, develop new applications, and provide expert support for other practitioners.) 
•  Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.  (performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others.)
• Understanding of specification systems and decision release systems.  (Has an expert understanding of the principles, can apply the information to complex situations, solve complex problems, conduct research/break new ground, develop new applications, and provide expert support for other practitioners.)
•  Skill in using company information systems and processes.  (Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others.)
•  Knowledge of Product Delivery Process programs.  (Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.)
•  Knowledge in engineering principles, theory and practice as well as product knowledge.  (Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.)

      2.   Education:

         Formal education or training required to perform the essential functions of the job. Includes degrees, certifications, licenses and/or registration requirements.

• Degree in a Business/Management discipline or equivalent experience. (University Degree (4 years or equivalent)) 
•  Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience.

       3.   Relevant work experiences:

          Type and amount of experience necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. May include specific roles and/or an understanding of a particular function, organization, industry or           product line.

•  Product engineering experience. (1 – 3 years)
•  Product program management experience (4 – 7 years)
•  Product or service development process/management experience. (1 – 3 years)
•  Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems. (4 -7 years )
•  Cross functional work experience(s) in multiple major areas such as Engineering, Production Control, etc.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

• Bi-Lingual: Chinese & English – minimum of U.S. 11th Grade English.
• Experienced user of SAP in the Materials Management (MM) and Production Planning (PP) modules of R/3.
•  Experience in specific areas of Product Delivery Process (PDP) and Order Fulfillment Process (OFP)
