Manager, QC & Analytical Services

Major Responsibilities：

• Serve as partner to other functional groups, e.g. Research, Product Development, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Operations.
• Provide laboratory testing services as needed to support product development, product transfer, and product registration activities.
• Provide laboratory testing services as needed to support the quality control requirements of the Operations group, including the needs of Shaklee China Nutritional and House hold productions and outside contract manufacturers.
• Develop, optimize, verify, and validate new and existing Shaklee test methods.
• Manage the day-to-day activities of laboratory staff.
• Schedule and prioritize the laboratory workload so as to maximize resource utilization and minimize turnaround time.  Respond as needed to expedited requests for testing.
• Manage the stability testing of all Shaklee nutritional, household, and personal care products; maintain stability data files.
• Ensure that laboratory operations meet all applicable Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for dietary supplements and foods.
• Cooperate with the QA and Compliance group in auditing contract manufacturer laboratories and outside laboratories as needed to ensure compliance with Shaklee requirements and applicable regulations.
• Keep knowledge of analytical testing methodologies and equipment current through participation in scientific conferences, seminars, and trade shows.
• Involve Shaklee in appropriate scientific task groups, collaborative studies, and other efforts.
• Develop and manage departmental budget.
• Interview, hire, train, and mentor staff.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and establish ongoing performance goals for staff.

Required：

• Minimum 10 years in active analytical laboratory management
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, microbiology, biology, or related field
• Demonstrated experience in successfully directing laboratory-based scientific and technical teams
• Skilled in the tools of scientific data analysis
• Ability to work under strict time pressure
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to creatively solve problems in a fast-paced work environment
• Strong leadership skills
• Proven competence in administering and managing budgets
• Excellent analytical skills
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to act as a team player
• Good physical and mental health; must be able to travel by car or air and be able to work long hours when necessary to support changing business requirements
